Instruction with Technologies for Middle School Classrooms

Mobile device nowadays is used broadly. The users also come from various people, from adult to teenager until kids. Student from middle school belong to teenager who exactly use mobile device nowadays. Mobile device is appropriate tool for learning. Not only practical, mobile device also accusable. It consist of many applications from online dictionary, browser, searching engine, bluetooth, wi-fi, e-book, etc. which is possible for student to get information and instruction from teacher. If properly used by excellent teachers, these technologies offer new ways to motivate and fully engage middle school students for life-long learning applied across the curriculum. Using mobile device in learning process also support the paperless program to build eco-friendly lesson. It also build student creativeness. And for teacher,s the using of mobile device can efficient their time in transfer knowledge, giving and correcting task also giving personal feedback.

Blended Learning

Blended Learning refers to the learning that combine between learning face to face (face to face and computer-based learning (online and offline). Blended learning represents an opportunity to integrate the innovative and technological advances offered by online learning with the interaction and participation offered in the best of traditional learning. Through blended learning the learner can get learning material from gadget, computer, smart phone which is connected with internet access. Learners and teachers work together to improve the quality of learning. The main goal of blended learning is to provide an opportunity for the various characteristics of learners who wan to learn independently, sustainable, and develop lifelong, so that learning will become more effective, more efficient, and more interesting.

There are some models in this modern way of teaching. According to knewton.com there are six models of Blended Learning.

1) Face-to-Face Driver Model

This one is the most common model applied in school. The face-to-face driver approach allows students who are struggling or working above their grade level to progress at their own pace using technology in the classroom. This model is very helpful to engage English language learner who sometimes fall behind not because they are incapable of understanding a concept.

2) Rotation Model

This model is common used in elementary school. The students rotate between different stations on a fixed schedule – either working online or spending face-to-face time with the teacher. The benefit from this model is students became more active learners and often challenged themselves to work harder and learn material that had not yet been introduced in their classroom.

3) Flex Model

In this model, the teacher delivers material via online.  The teachers are still in the class room to provide on-site support as needed, while learning is primarily self-guided, as students independently learn and practice new concepts in a digital environment.  Most of the students spend most of their time in a computer lab learning online.

4) Online Lab Model

The school provide lab model for student. Student can use dedicated computer to finish their coursework. This not only allows schools to offer courses for which they have no teacher or not enough teachers, but also allows students to work at a pace and in a subject area that suits them without affecting the learning environment of other students.

5) Self-Blend Model

The self-blend model of blended learning gives students the opportunity to take classes beyond what is already offered at their school. While these individuals will attend a traditional school environment, they also can get supplement for their learning through online courses offered remotely. In order for this method of blended learning to be successful, students must be highly self-motivated. Self-blend is ideal for the student who wants to take additional Advanced Placement courses, or who has interest in a subject area that is not covered in the traditional course catalogue.

6) Online Driver Model

Different with face-to-face driver, online driver is a form of blended learning in which students work remotely and material is primarily delivered via an online platform.

Blended Learning can develop student motivation in learning independently. Now, they don’t depend only on the teacher role. Teacher in the past had a role as the only source of knowledge nowadays has a role as guidance, facilitators, motivator, and trainer.

New technologies and telecommunications networks now is used in any aspect of life such as, medicine, business, agriculture, entertainment to politics, economics  and industries. Telecommunication network become famous because it have created a bridge to for information access and worldwide transparent communication among the people of the world. Everyone can enjoy access information and knowledge whenever and wherever they want. For example, people in Asia can easily access information from America without go abroad. They only use their gadget to gain a lot of information around the word.

Nowadays, technology also is used to share the education into the worldwide or we can call as Global Education Network (GBN). Global means our word which is increase and developed become a wide variety, meanwhile the technology networking is as the tool or instrument for creating global learning circumstance. GBN is used for links students and teachers in developing countries with students and teachers in industrialized countries for collaborative research, teaching and learning programs via the Internet. Using technology to share knowledge also is applicable to teach children. By using the technology, children can understand the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and multilingualism at an early age. It can be usefull for them until adult.

Experienced on Car Stuck

The holiday was over; it was the sign for me to go back to Semarang. It was the best place for me to study. I had big ambition. It was to improve my GPA in the following semester.

‘I must study vigorously in the fourth semester.” I said softly when I was preparing lunch. “Study hard is my priority. Father, mother you will be proud of me.” Suddenly, my fantasy vanished because my father arrived. He drove an old car which sounds was very loud rough. My family used to call it Si Gesit. I run quickly to open the gate. I took a look to our blue old car which the paint began to abrade while the bumper began to rust. The dent of the right and left side on that car remembered me an accident. It happened when for the first time I tried to park Si Gesit but I bumped the wall of our garage.

My father approached to me after parking Si Gesit. “My dear, can you guess?” my father asked mysteriously. “Guess what, father?” I replayed curiously. “I have a ticket for you”, my father said “Ticket for you to go back to Semarang.” I was very happy at that time.

The date on the ticket showed that I must go back to Semarang on Sunday, first March 2015 at 7 a.m. I was very surprise after knowing that I must go to the bus agency an hour before the bus departed since my house was far from that place. “It is too early father.” I declared. “Do not worry my dear. As long as we have Si Gesit every problem will be solved.” My father explained confidently. I returned to the dining room then took a look on a calendar. “I just have only a day to prepare anything father.” I cried.

I woke up very early on Sunday morning to make sure I would not late. For several times I also rechecked my bag to make sure that there is no one of the things were missing. But, how shocked I was when I knew my father who had promised to accompany me to the bus agency was still sleeping. My mother initiative awaken my father. I felt this morning was the busy time that I ever had.

After everything was ready, my father, my mother, my little sister and I departed from our house by car. My father drove very fast since the limited time we had. We must go through 30 km to arrive to the bus agency. We just had passed for about 10 km when Si Gesit stopped unexpectedly. It was stuck in the middle of the street. How panic we were. Although, our old car was commonly stuck but it was the wrong time for it happened.

 “This is your fault father.” My little sister said. “You do not check the car condition a day before. Do not you?” My mother added. “Father, how can this happen in such situation?” I said.  My mother, my little sister and I blamed my father since he did not check the car condition a day before. In fact, Si Gesit was ran out of gasoline. My father did not pay attention toward our blame. He borrowed an old bicycle from someone he did not know then paddled very fast seek for gasoline.

Ten minutes latter, I saw my father came back brought two bottles full of gasoline. He looked very tired but still spread nice smile. His face was full of sweat. “Do not worry, we will arrive on time my dear.” He tried to make me quite. “It is ok father.” I replied slowly while tried not to cry. I only saw my father effort from inside the car. I just realized that my father was very care about me. He would do anything for his family. I considered every one had a chance to make mistake including my father that did not check the car condition a day before. But, that mistake was nothing than his attempt.

My father full fills the gasoline to the tank by himself. At that time our car became center of people attention. They saw at us strangely. But, my family was accustomed with such condition. Moreover I also ever had experienced in car stuck when I drove alone.

After waiting several time finally my family could continuous our passage. My father drove like a jet. “Let’s go for having races!”cried my father. I was rather fearful eventually we could arrive in the bus agency. I was about to late but the bus driver was very kind to let me enter he bus. Every one on the bus seemed angry with me but actually it just only my feeling.

During in the way, I was thinking about my family who very care about me. I also thought about Si Gesit that was commonly stuck in the middle of the way but it stored various stories of our family. We found of Si Gesit although it was too old for having far travel.  Suddenly my phone rang. My mother texted me to inform that Si Gesit was stuck again because of trouble on its machine. I though instant that may be my family was the only one who very experienced about car stuck.

Motion : This House Should be Legalized Drug

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am Deska Aulia Sari. I am third speaker of affirmative team. We support legalization of drug because be believe that drug are not totally bring negative impact to the society ladies and gentlemen.

Negative teams believe that Drugs are dangerous, and they also believe the government should prevent its use. But it is not true. Because drugs truly has special function. Basically psychotropic (of the type of drug) can be used for medical service and in science development, for instance, the opium for threat dearrea, morphine for treat serious injury, cannabis  as the sedative before surgery and diazepam for treat anxiety, insomnia, problem muscle and other psycho neurotic condition. Unfortunately people around the world don’t know about the function of drug itself. So they assume all the drug whatever drugs are very dangerous.

Second, the negative teams also believe that drugs can cause the spread of crime in the society. It is also not true. Because legalization of drug can be use for fight against the mafia. Like in Uruguay, that state legalized the cannabis. So the government of Uruguay regulate and organized the cannabis trade which mafia organized before. That policy also make the cannabis price are stable.

Here I am going to deliver our team point toward the legalization of drugs. 

First, drugs are safer when legal.

Why drugs are not safe when it is illegal? Because of the highest price of drugs. It makes some dishonest producer do some cheating, they mix some dangerous  substance like chalk and talcum powder into the drug to get  more profit. At least when drugs are legalized the state can regulate their production to make sure that they are clean and not cut with other dangerous substances. So it will minimize the risk to users. Like in Canada. That state provide special machine for their citizen  to get and enjoy drug. This policy is one of the way to minimize the spread of dangerous illness cause of drug.

Second, Legalization drug reduces crime.

Because state can control the drug trade so there is no mafia anymore which can manipulate the drugs price.

Third, Legal drugs would increase tax revenue.

Because beside shut the illegal trade, legalization of drug also will increase the state tax revenue. You can imagine, every year American government spent more that 44 million dollar for against the drug trade. It is not such a small amount of money ladies and gentlemen. On the other hand, if drug are legalized so the state exactly will increase tax revenue. That tax will be use for prosperous the citizen.

The last, every people have right to take drugs.

In this case people have their right to make decision to choose their life. State do not have privilege to ban the individual right. This state would better to make rules and campaign about the risk of consuming drug without proper dose. Or state also can provide special machine to get drug.
